Shirley Jean "Jean" Morrow Hedenburg grew up in Oakland and went to Frick and Schenley schools. She attended the Pennsylvania College For Women (now Chatham) where she received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She married Jack Hedenburg in her junior year in December of 1946 since it was the longest school holiday. She worked in a research lab at Children's Hospital then went to the University of Pittsburgh where she received an MEd and taught elementary school in the Allegheny Valley for 28 years. She and Jack had three children, Suzanne (deceased), Jacqueline and Don. At First Baptist Church, Jean has taught Sunday School, helped with decorating and Christmas parties, Vacation Bible School and coffee hours. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and sewing and does machine embroidery on ties, shirts and towels.
