Our women's group is known as the "Marys and the Marthas" or "M&M's." We consider ourselves a sisterhood of love and support.
WHO CAN COME?
This group is open to all women, not just members of First Baptist.
WHEN/WHERE DO WE MEET?
We meet on the third Saturday of each month, from 10 am to 12 pm. We usually meet in members' homes, but occasionally at the church (for our annual tea, sometimes a picnic), and once a year we meet at the Baptist Home. Contact Margot Quinn for the location, 412-683-3350.
WHAT HAPPENS AT A TYPICAL MEETING?
We start each meeting with devotions, and several hymns. We then have prayer time, sharing our concerns with each other and praying for each other. We end with a meal (depending on the hostess' desire, we have anything from a continental breakfast to a full warm meal).
No one needs to feel pressured to host the group; there are those among us who enjoy having the group at their homes; there also are those who are happy to bring food but don't have the facilities to host. All is appreciated, but not mandatory.
OTHER THINGS OUR GROUP DOES
We support the Love Offering to help missionaries. A number of the women have formed the women's ensemble to sing in church occasionally to supplement the regular music. As part of our efforts to build fellowship we try to take an overnight trip once a year.
